Coimbatore: In an endeavour to preserve and promote Indian art, music and dance, a three-day feast of music is being organised at Isha Yoga Centre here from February 10.

The ninth annual Yaksha Festival will take place in the presence of Sadhguru, founder of Isha Foundation, with bansuri performance by Rakesh Chaurasia, the disciple of renowned Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, on the inaugural day.

Cassical vocalist from Jaipur Shruthi Sadolikar Katkar of Atrauli Gharana will perform on the second day, while the final day concert will be by young Vidwan N Ravikiran, a prodigy with the Chitraveena, a release from Isha said.

Yaksha, the celestial being in Indian mythology, attempts to showcase art forms which evolved over thousands of years and was a source of spiritual inspiration.

India’s various art forms are not only a reflection of the diverse culture of this land but also a source of spiritual inspiration. However, these art forms were quickly becoming a forgotten dimension in our lives.

Yaksha hopes to provide a common platform for the artistes to perform and connoisseurs to see and appreciate these ancient art forms.
