COIMBATORE: Members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) have demanded a wider investigation into the case related to suspended Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University A. Ganapathi.

In a petition to the District Collector, the members said the bribery case has brought shame to the highest post of the University. “The entire higher education system gets affected when such senior persons indulge in corruption. There should be an indepth investigation into the entire episode and all appointments made by him since 2006 should be thoroughly investigated,” they said.

They demanded transparency in the appointment of professors to universities and Government-aided colleges. “A separate board has to be set up for this purpose,” they said in the petition and urged the Collector to take immediate action in this regard.
