Commuters block train to protest against daily delay of Truchirapalli passenger

Coimbatore : Protesting against the delay in the arrival of Tiruchirapalli passenger train from Palakkad, commuters today blocked the train at Vanjipalayam near Tirupur.

According to police, for the last few days the train, scheduled to arrive at 9.08, at was reaching an hour late, putting students
and office goers into lot of hardship.

Despite complaints to the Railways, there was no change, they said. As the train was halted to give way to another train, some passengers got down and sat in front of the train and blocked it as a mark of protest.

Some senior officials rushed to the spot and assured the agitators that they would take up the issue with the authorities. Owing to the sudden agitation, a few trains were delayed, police said.
