Three die as lorry collides with ambulance near AG Pudur

Coimbatore : Three persons died when a fish-laden lorry collided head-on with the ambulance they were travelling in near Sulur on the outskirts today.

Ambulance driver Pasupathi,30, of a private hospital was going to the hospital, along with his friend Rajesh, 35, when a watchman Shaktivel, 38, working there also sought a lift to get down mto his house around 7 am, police said.

As the vehicle reached AG Pudur, a fish-laden lorry hit the ambulance, resulting in spot death of Pasupathi and Rajesh. The public took Shaktivel to the government hospital, but he died on the way, police said.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle-borne person, Gopal, who lost his balance after seeing the mishap and his vehicle rammed the mangled ambulance, was admitted to a private hospital, with serious injuries, police said.
