COIMBATORE: A 32-year-old burns victim in forest fire in Kurangani and lifted by air ambulance is undergoing treatment for 70 per cent burns in a city hospital.

Jayashree of Madipakkam in Chennai, who was being treated in a hospital in Madurai was airlifted and brought by air ambulance to Ganga Hospital on Monday evening.

With serious burns on face, legs and hands, the first task would be to make heal the burns and plant skin on the parts, hospital sources said.

Since she has inhaled heavy smoke from all types of plants, resulting in some problem with the lungs, they said, adding that the patient is being given liquid diet to make the body cool.

Meanwhile, expressing his condolence to the bereaved families of those died in the fire mishap, Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi General Secretary E.R. Eswaran said the Government has to take the responsibility and should not try to escape by putting blame on others.

He accused the Forest Minister of making remarks without knowing the facts that the trekkers had entered the forest without permission, which indicated that any body enter the protected and reserved forest without permission.

“Owning moral responsibility for the incident, the Forest Minister should resign immediately,” Eswaran said.
