S.Rly to operate ‘Heritage Steam Voyage’ on NMR section

COIMBATORE: Acceding to the demands from the tourists and heritage enthusiasts, Southern Railway will operate ‘Heritage Steam Voyage’ Summer Special Train services in the Nilgiri Mountain Railways (NMR) Section between Mettupalayam and Coonoor, from March 31 to June 24 – on Saturdays and Sundays.
There will be a total 52 services (26 each up and down) and the special train will consist of two first class coaches and one second class Chair Car coach.
This fully reserved train will start from Mettupalayam at 9.10 a.m. and will reach Coonoor at 12.30 p.m., with stoppages at Kallar and Hillgrove. In the return direction, it will start from Coonoor at 1.30 p.m. and reach Mettupalayam at 4.20 p.m. with stoppages at Hillgrove and Kallar.
Advance bookings for these trains will start from Wednesday (March 14) 8 a.m.
Fare Structure: 1st Class: Mettupalayam to Coonoor and Coonoor to Mettupalayam: Adults: Rs.1100; children: Rs. 650 (5 to 12 years).
Second Class: Mettupalayam to Coonoor and Coonoor to Mettupalayam: Adults: Rs. 800; children: Rs. 500 (5 to 12 years). No tickets for children below five years of age.
