COIMBATORE: A section of farmers on Monday appealed to the District Collector to set right the irregularities in shandies, particularly Singanallur, including usage of cold storage.

In a memorandum to the Collector, T.N. Hariharan, members of Tamil Nadu Farmers Association wanted the cancellation of lease right given to an individual for using space of cold storage, by which farmers are affected.

They requested to give the lease to cooperative society so that the other farmers can also store their produces.

Coming with holding different types of vegetables, they also alleged that the administrative officer and other officials were not regularly coming to the shandy, leading to irregularities in the market.

The farmers also appealed to fix prices of vegetables without affecting both the consumes and growers.
