TN Govt announces travel assistance and ticket fare to NEET aspirants writing tests outside state

Chennai : Tamil Nadu government on Friday announced that it will pay for second class train fare and a travel allowance to students from the state who are writing NEET examination at centres outside the state.

In a statement, chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami said the government will pay second class train fare (for those travelling by bus an allowance not exceeding second class train fare) and a cash allowance of Rs.1,000 for Tamil Nadu students who have to travel outside the state to write the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for joining medical course.

The government will also bear the travel fare for one person accompanying the student. All the eligible students can get an advance from the district Principal Education Officer after their application is endorsed by their school headmaster or the students can even claim expenses after their return by providing the necessary bills.

Assistance will be given to students possessing NEET hall ticket and the Identity Card issued by the school.
