Tiny bees chase away the mighty elephants. Sting operation to control the elephants

The farmers at the foothills of Western Ghats constantly face the menace of elephant infiltration in their fields. It has been found recently that honey bees can be used to a great extent in chasing away the elephants. Though the bees cannot penetrate the thick skin of the elephant, it can sting the eyes and trunk and thus chase them away. The SBI has provided the villagers with 90 bee hives to rear for this purpose.
