This aspect would be woven into the new Energy Policy, the TN government is working on. The policy will take forward former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s thoughts and actions on alternative energy and will be aligned with the Vision Tamil Nadu 2003 document that she had released. The Vision document had set a target of 8,884 MW of solar power capacity by 2023.

The Vision Tamil Nadu 2023 was released by late Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa in 2012.
