Bengaluru: Alia Bhatt has lit up the screen as an actress. Now, for a change, she has lit up a village in Mandya district in Karnataka. Around 40 homes in Kikkeri village in Mandya district have received solar lights, thanks to the Alia’s philanthropic initiative ‘Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe’.

As part of the initiative, personal items belonging to the actress were put up for sale at the Stylecracker Night Market. Needless to say, Alia’s devoted fans bought all the items. Alia donated the proceedings from the initiative to Bengaluru NGO – Aroha, which used the money to install light up homes in Kikkeri as part of its Liter of Light initiative.

The NGO recycles plastic bottles to make solar lamps for use in economically backward comunities. “The amazing response to ‘Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe’ enabled us to light up homes of 40 families living in darkness in Kikkeri through the #LiterOfLight initiative. Thank you @StdElectricals for helping us install eco friendly solar lamps, brightening 200 lives,” she tweeted.
