Two liquor-related suicides were reported in the city during the last 24 hours.  Thirty seven year old Prabhakaran, working in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University as office assistant, had stopped consuming liquor for the last few months.

However, he came home drunk two days ago, resulting in a quarrel between him and his wife, who in a huff left for her mother’s house, leaving Prabhakaran alone.  Guilty of his action, a depressed Prabhakaran was found hanging in his house in Selvapuram by the neighbours last night.  On information police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.

In another incident, Naveenkumar, working in fish market and a resident of Kuniyamuthur,
committed suicide by hanging in his house, since he was not able to stop consuming liquor, police said.

Due to this, his wife had left home some days.  Upset over this, Naveenkumar hung himself to death in his house early today.

Police are investigating both cases.
