Bengaluru Archdiocese forms ‘Flood Relief’

Bengaluru: Bengaluru Archdiocese has formed ‘the Bengaluru Archdiocesan Flood Relief to plan for the relief of the affected people of Coorg and Kerala due to the torrential rains and floods that caused hundreds of deaths and destabilisation of lakhs of people.

Archbishop Peter Machado The decision was taken after Archbishop Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bengaluru, convened a meeting fo key personnel from pastoral, educational and development sectors of the Archdiocese to plan for the relief to the affected people.

A core team was constituted to plan and help implement activities in collaboration with like-minded organisations.
Activities are underway to collect basic necessities and funds for people affected in Coorg and Kerala, said the Archdiocese press release.

Earlier, the Archbishop issued a circular to all the churches, convents and institutions to offer special prayers for the victims of the tragedy and to donate generously for those affected. He also asked the people to contribute generously, especially on August 26, for the cause.
