Mudigere: Four-and-half-year-old Jiyan Ahmed who is studying in UKG at Bethany School in town had saved Rs 1,000 to buy a new dress for himself this Bakrid. But now he has decided to donate the money to the people in flood-hit Kodagu.

Jiyan’s gesture has warmed the hearts of many in his family who happily supported his decision. Jiyan’s family was making preparations for the Bakrid. However, they decided to celebrate the festival in a low-key affair as they were disturbed by the devastating floods that hit Kodagu and Kerala.

In fact, Jiyan overheard his parents’ decision – that was taken along with other community members – and decided to help in his own way to the people of Kodagu.

This tiny boy has now given away his savings to the Chief Minister’s relief fund through Peace and Awareness Trust president Altaf Bilugula.
