Illegal sand mining and improper maintenance damages check dams in Madukarai

The 13 year old check dam at Kurumbapalayam in the outskirts of Coimbatore district constructed in association with ACC cements remains broken for a year now draining thousands of litres of rain water into Kerala. About 400 acres of agriculture land in Madukarai has been affected because of the broken check dams and nearly 15,000 families are affected.
