Dengue-infected child among 4 die of fever at Coimbatore GH

Coimbatore : Four persons, including two children below 18 months, died of fever, including dengue and swine flu, on Friday at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital here.

Two children, one from Dharmapuram aged two months and the other from Pollachi aged 18 months were admitted to the hospital here with symptoms of different types of fever, a senior hospital official said. While 18-month-old died of dengue, the other died of mysterious fever, hospital dean Ashokan told reporters.

A 50-year-old man from Puliyampatti, who was also admitted, following symptoms H1N1, died early today, he said.

Similarly, a 61-year old man, from Pattanam on the outskirts, was admitted with severe fever a few days ago. As there was no improvement in his condition, his relatives took him to a private hospital for treatment, Ashokan said.

However, they brought him back yesterday. He had symptoms of H1N1 and died late last night.
