Ghantasala birth anniversary celebrations planned in Coimbatore

Coimbatore : A grand function is proposed here later this year to commemorate the 97th birth anniversary of legendary composer and singer of South Indian films Ghantasala.
Three prominent personalities, who have contributed to arts, dance, music and culture would be honoured with Kala Pradhashini
Ghantasala Puruskar, during the function, Kalaimamani Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala, artiste and founder of Kala Pradarshini, told mediapersons on Friday.
The awards, instituted last year, were conferred on SP Balasubramaniam, Padma Subraanian and Nallikuppasay Chetti, stalwarts in their respective fields, said Parvathi, who is also daughter-in-law of Ghantasala.
This initiative was a befitting tribute in honour of Ghantasala and keeping his legacy live, she added.
