Coimbatore : Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) on Saturday expressed apprehension over the impact on delivery schedule, following long leave being taken by workers for Deepavali.

TEA executive committee felt this would naturally lead to cancellation of orders and also cascading effect on working capital and other financial stress, TEA president Raja M Shanmugha said in a statement.

“It is a fact that the negative factor on us will be a big advantageous only to our competing countries at a time when we have been struggling to withstand the onslaught of their competition,” he said..

It was a right time for all exporting units to spread the reality among employees and convince them of how best they could also contribute to the betterment of their unit by merely taking two or three days leave after Deepavali instead of 10 to 15 at a stretch and placing all utilities remain idle with a loss of productivity, he noted.

TEA has sent a circular to the members requesting them to commence the exercise effectively, make the workers understand the reality and get the expected cooperation for the well being of their unit.

A communication has also been sent to all knitwear stakeholder associations  to advise their members also on similar lines, the statement said, adding that with the cooperation of all, production could be resumed within two to three days and productivity loss minimised.
