Consumers do not have to pay for carrybags having advertisements of shops as that is seen as a publicity for that particular shop. Such establishments have no right to charge consumers, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has ruled.

Shops can sell only carrybags without advertisements.

The forum also said that low quality printed bills that fades within a short period should not be provided to customers, the forum ruled in Ernakulam on a petition by advocate and RTI activist DB Binu. The petition was against Bigbazar and Lulu Hypermarket and Reliance Smart in Ernakulam.
