Round Table India to take up 162 social projects worth Rs 40L

Coimbatore : Table India (RTI) Area 7 is taking up 162 social and community services events and projects during the RTI Week, starting November 14.

Area 7 of RTI comprises 23 chapters in Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Coonoor, Ooty, Pollachi, Karur in Tamil Nadu and Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Wayanad in Kerala

The chapter will plant 7,400 saplings and sow 10,000 seeds during the week, RTI national secretary Akshay Dugar told reporters here today.

Two mother's feeding pods would be inaugurated at Coimbatore Railway station and a wheel chair each to be donated to Coimbatore and Tirupur railway stations. An amount of Rs 10,000 worth anti-poaching equipment would be donated to forest guards.

RTI had built 6,189 classroom in 2,588 schools across the country at a cost of more than Rs 244.65 crore, benefitting more than 6.8 lakh children, he said.

The project, covering all the area will be at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, Area 7 chairman, Ashwin Kumar said.
    
As many as 14 schools wouldl be covered as part of girl child abuse prevention awareness programme, he added.
