Ooty : The district court here today cancelled the bail granted to Sayan and Manoj, the one and two accused in the Kodanadu murder and heist case and ordered to send them to judicial custody.

Judge P Vadamalai heard the arguments of both the Government prosecutor, who had filed the petition to cancel the bail and counsel for both the accused and had reserved the orders for today.

Even as the judge asked all the 10 accused to appear before him, Sayan, Manoj and two other accused failed to do so and in his order, Vadamalai cancelled bail granted to the two key accused.

He also ordered to remand both the accused to judicial custody, along with two others–Dipu and Vigin (A 4 and 6) who failed to appear before the court and issued arrest warrant against them.

The judge also dismissed the petition filed by Sayan and Manoj for making confessional statement with regard to the case, citing some irregularities and mistakes in the format.

Vadamalai also dismissed a petition filed by eight accused-barring Sayan and Manoj–stating that they did not not have any role in the murder and heist and posted the case for February 18.

Sayan and Manoj were in the news recently after they linked the name of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edapadi Palanisamy in the case in an interview given to former Tehelka Editor, Mathew Sameul, based on which the Government had filed a petition seeking to cancel their bail, as they might tamper with evidences and also influence other accused and witnesses.
