Coimbatore : The Special Olympic International Football Championship will be held at Chennai from August 3..

The four-day championship will witness the participation of more than 20 men’s and women’s teams from 25 countries, in the presence of Olympians, special athletes and celebrities from various fields, Special Olympics Sports Manager, Dr M S John Nagarajan, told reporters here Sunday.

The Special Olympic Torch lit in Singapore next month will arrive at Chennai on August 3 and it will be received by a selected athlete, he said.

With Malayalam actor Mohanlal becoming a goodwill ambassador to the championship, more celebrities from the fields of cricket, football are expected to pep up the sport, the hosting partner Evoke Media founder J Civin said.
