SI placed under suspection for causing injuries to motorcyclists in Pollachi

Coimbatore : A sub-inspector of police was on Tuesday placed under suspension for reportedly causing injuries to three persons on a single two wheeler and over speeding by throwing lathi to stop them near Pollachi.
Sambandham on duty at Sangamapalayam and on vehicle check, noticed the trio on a motor cycle and overspeeding and hurled lathi on the vehicle, as they failed to stop the vehicle Monday evening, police said.
As the lathi stuck in one of the wheels, the youth fell down and sustained injuries, one of them seriously, they said.
The public around got enraged over the incident and abused the police personnel for his act, creating some tense moments. The injured youths, hailing from the city, were taken and admitted to the Pollachi Government hospital.
The video of the incident had gone viral and noticing this, SP, Sujith Kumar ordered the suspension of Sambadham, even as a departmental inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
