Coimbatore being a hub for industries particularly textile and educational institutions but has also great potential for sports. Sports personalities like Narain Karthikeyan – Formula One racer and Nirupama Vaidyanathan, tennis player have emerged from Coimbatore. Being a place of sports the city needs more infrastructure and facilities to improve. Youngsters should be motivated in participating in sports. Indoor stadium, swimming pool and hockey stadium are some of the long pending demands that Coimbatore is hoping to get soon.
