Prevention is better than cure.

Emphasising this a “Community Vigil Programme”, was organised by the district administration at Nanjanad near here to enhance awareness among villagers about ways to keep the deadly Corona virus at bay.

Presiding over the programme the Covid-19 Monitoring Officer for the Nilgiris Ms.Supriya Sahu observed that the programme was one among the many measures put in place by the Tamilnadu government to combat the menace.

Stating that village heads and community leaders in various parts of the district would be educated on different aspects of the pandemic,she said that they in turn would explain the “dos and don’ts ” to the people.

Pointing out that the public address systems of places of worship, would be put to effective use to spread awareness about the virus ,she said that ways to strengthen resistance to the disease would also be propagated.

Urging the villagers to keep an eye on people coming from other districts and states,she said that they can contact the Covid Control Room on toll free number 1077.The village level revenue officials will maintain a record of thr movement of people who visit other districts or states. Similar meetings will be held in all the panchayat unions.

The Nilgiris Collector Ms.J.Innocent Divya and the Superintendent of Police Dr.V.Sasi Mohan were among those present.
