GEM Hospital Launches AI-Powered Cancer Intelligence Platform “Dr.GEM” on World Cancer Day

On the occasion of World Cancer Day, GEM Cancer Centre,a unit of the GEM Hospital Group,organised a special ceremony to honour cancer warriors and successfully launched “Dr.GEM”, an advanced AI-powered cancer intelligence chatbot designed to enhance patient education and support clinical decision-making.

The launch of Dr.GEM marks a significant milestone in addressing the growing challenge of cancer-related misinformation by offering accurate, scientifically validated, and reliable information to patients and caregivers, thereby improving treatment understanding and strengthening patient confidence.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Praveen Raj, Chief Executive Officer,GEM Cancer Centre, said, In today’s era, misinformation about cancer poses a significant challenge for patients. Dr.GEM has been developed to provide accurate, evidence-based information precisely when patients need it most. This platform will enhance patient confidence and treatment understanding, empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their care.

Highlighting the evolving role of technology in oncology, Prof. C. Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospital Group, remarked, “Cancer care today extends far beyond hospital walls. Real transformation happens when technology, humanity, and awareness converge. Initiatives like Dr.GEM represent an essential component of the future of cancer care, ensuring patients have access to trustworthy information alongside expert medical treatment. This reflects our commitment to comprehensive and compassionate oncology.

The ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries Dr.A.Sivathanu Pillai, renowned Indian scientist from ISRO and widely known as the Father of BrahMos, and Thiru A.Saravana Sundar,I.P.S., Inspector General of Police, West Zone, Coimbatore.

Their presence underscored the importance of science, leadership, and societal responsibility in advancing cancer awareness and strengthening the collective fight against the disease.
The event also honoured cancer warriors for their resilience and courage, reinforcing GEM Cancer Centre’s patient-centric approach and commitment to integrating innovation with compassionate care.

With the successful launch of Dr.GEM, GEM Cancer Centre reaffirmed its dedication to leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance patient engagement, improve access to reliable information, and set new benchmarks in technology-enabled oncology care.
