Coimbatore, June 30, 2026 – A new chapter in higher education began with the soft launch of P.K. DAS Deemed to be University, established under the aegis of the Nehru Group of Institutions. Realizing the visionary dream of Late P K Das, Founder Chairman of Nehru Group of Institutions, the University builds upon a distinguished legacy of over five decades in education. Since 1968, the NAAC-accredited and NIRF-ranked Nehru Group with NBA-accredited courses has nurtured over one lakh students and produced accomplished professionals worldwide. The unveiling ceremony of P.K. Das Deemed to be University and its first three academic schools was held on 24 June 2026 (Wednesday) at the University campus, marking a historic milestone in the educational journey of the Nehru Group of Institutions.

Approved to commence academic programmes from the academic year 2026–27, P K Das Deemed to be University has been conceived as a multidisciplinary institution dedicated to academic excellence, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and societal advancement. The University will commence its academic journey through three distinguished schools – the School of Technology, School of Health Sciences, and School of Social Sciences. The inaugural academic offerings include innovative four-year programmes in Avionics and Drone Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Medical Imaging, Radiology and Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology, Performing Arts, and Indology.

The University authorities said that these programmes have been thoughtfully designed to address emerging opportunities in advanced technologies, healthcare, creative disciplines, and Indian knowledge systems. By integrating academic rigor with experiential learning, industry engagement, research exposure, and innovation-driven education, the University aims to produce graduates who are future-ready and globally competent. Located at Coimbatore, the University features a modern academic ecosystem comprising advanced AI Powered laboratories, research centres, innovation and incubation hubs, technology-enabled learning environments, and industry-integrated training facilities.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dr. H. N. Nagaraja, Executive Director, Nehru Group of Institutions, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. B. Anirudhan, Director – Rankings, Accreditation & Placements, Nehru Group of Institutions. The launch ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from the entire Nehru Group of Institutions fraternity. Faculty members, administrators, and staff joined together in a spirit of celebration and pride, extending their wholehearted support and blessings for this landmark initiative.
