The 58th state-level Republic Day athletics meet for the secondary and higher-secondary students from all over Tamilnadu will be held at Nehru Stadium on December 18, 19 and 20.

According to the press release, 2327 students from 16 zones, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Cudallore, Thindugal, Erode, Kanchipuram, Kaniyakumari, Madurai, Permabalur, Ramanathapuram, Salam, Thanjavoor, Trichy, and Tiruneveli, will participate in the events, in three categories – under-14, under-17, and under-19. Events include running, long jump, high jump, discus throw, and javelin throw. 30 teams of volunteers and assistants have been appointed by the Coimbatore district collector, and the directors of various educational institutions.

Accommodations have been arranged for students from outside the district at Hindustan Matriculation School, CSI Boys High School, PSG Sarvojana High School, PSG Krishnammal Girls High School, Punitha Kanikkai Girls High School, CCMA Government Girls High School, and GRG Matriculation High School.
