My Waste My Responsibility to set up more kiosks in Coimbatore city

Inspired by the response that the No Dumping My Waste My Responsibility kiosk has received, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has plans of inaugurating more such kiosks in multiple locations across Coimbatore city. By February, at least four No Dumping My Waste My Responsibility kiosks will become fully functional in Coimbatore city.
Earlier this month, No Dumping My Waste My Responsibility kiosk was inaugurated at the Coimbatore International Airport, in an effort to take waste management to the next level by thorough processing, segregation, and safe disposal of waste generated at the Airport premises.
The kiosk was inaugurated by the Commissioner Dr. K. Vijaya Karthikeyan of Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation. G. Prakash Reddy, the Airport Director; C. R. Swaminathan, RAAC President; and officials of the AAI were also present at the inauguration.
In order to spread awareness about the operations, a kiosk has been set up at Brookfields Mall, during the inauguration function of Coimbatore Vizha. The kiosk will function until the event concludes. The kiosk was set up in order to spread awareness and educate people about waste segregation and management. We are told that the kiosk will also collect, segregate, and dispose waste that is generated at the mall from January 29 till February 4. The non-recyclable waste will be sent to the dumpyard.
One of the volunteers of No Dumping My Waste My Responsibility project shares that there are four principles of No Dumping My Waste My Responsibility – dispose unhygienic sanitary waste separately; dry inorganic waste must be disposed in a clean and dry manner; hand over organic waste in an open manner; and practice disposing of waste every day according to the two-bins-and-one-bag principle. The two bins are differentiated according to their colour. Unhygienic sanitary waste must be disposed of in the red-coloured bin. The white bag is for dry organic matter. The green bin is for organic compostable waste.
