Coimbatore District Collector received an unusual petition on Monday from a Class VIII student. In his petition, the student, Karthikeyan of Saravanampatti in Coimbatore, appealed for the closure of the TASMAC outlet near the Higher Secondary School at Saravanampatti.

The petition further mentioned that many grown-ups, including his father, get drunk at the outlet and create ruckus at their homes. There have also been alcohol-related deaths in the area. One of them was a close friend of his father. Since his dad spends more than half his earnings at TASMAC, the family doesn’t even get good food to eat.

Hence, Karthikeyan had appealed the District Collector to close down the TASMAC shop in his area. He was accompanied by three classmates while submitting the petition.
