Over 100 protesters have lined up today to tonsure their hair, to express solidarity with the ongoing fast protest demanding the immediate implementation of the Avinashi-Athikkadavu Ground Water Recharge Scheme.

40 of these 111 protesters have already shaved their heads, while others wait for their turn at the venue in Avinashi.

Meanwhile, three of the 14 persons on indefinite fast have been admitted to a private hospital in Avinashi, due to their worsening health conditions, even as nearly 70 persons are continuing their hunger strike at various places.

19 persons, including four women, are on hunger strike in Annur for the last eight days.

A representative of the Avinashi-Athikkadavu Ground Water Recharge Scheme action committee said that they are not going to end the protests until the Government issued an order to implement the scheme.
