Coming down heavily on the government and the state administration for endorsing liquor in Tamil Nadu, the members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) have made a resolution to drive away the “liquor beast,“ on International Women’s Day yesterday.

During the International Women’s Day conference that was held at Sakthi Nagar grounds near Periyanaickenpalayam, the members blamed both the DMK and the ADMK for endorsing the liquor policy because of which many have lost their lives.

They also criticized the central government for not implementing the 33 percent reservation for women in the Parliament.

“We will only vote for the parties that set policies which are against the sale of liquor in the state,” said A. Radhika, secretary of the AIDWA.

Various members of the association, party leaders, and general public participated in the conference.
