Rs.30 lakhs seized; 70,000 posters removed all over Tamil Nadu

With the election code of conduct coming into effect all over the state, the Election Commission said that it has seized more than Rs.30 lakhs of unaccounted for cash, and removed more than 70,000 posters all over the state. Of these, nearly 15,000 banners and posters were from Chennai city alone.

The seized money was handed over to the state treasury. Also, cameras have been installed at 38,000 places all over the state to prevent violations of the code of conduct.

Rajesh Lakhoni, the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, informed that strict action will be taken against politicians found violating the codes.

Of the Rs.30 lakhs that was seized, Rs.7 lakhs came from Salem
