In a petition to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has demanded the transfer of three district collectors and two District Revenue Officers (DRO), who, according to the party, were associated with the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

The district collectors of Nilgiris, Tirupur, and Salem, and the DROs of Tirupur and Erode are the officials whose transfers the party has sought for “in order to ensure free and fair election.”

According to the petition presented to the ECI, these officials are either relatives of the senior functionaries of the AIADMK or have openly expressed their support and loyalty to the party.

“If they are allowed to take part in the forthcoming general election for the State Assembly, there would be bias and favouritism in favour of the ruling party,” the petition said.
