Sudden downpour brings relief from sweltering heat

Parts of Coimbatore today witnessed moderate to heavy rains, bringing the mercury down, much to the relief to the people.
Coimbatore city and the nearby areas witnessed peak summer-like heat yesterday. But, the sudden downpour of rain that began at around 5.30 PM and lasted for about 30 minutes, came as a welcome relief.
The rains however were confined to only a few areas. Traffic slowed down in areas like Ukkadam and Railway Station due to water logging.
