Torture by senior, woman police commits suicide

A woman constable, attached to Dharapuram All Woman Police station in Tirupur district, committed suicide by consuming poison, reportedly upset over continuous torture by a senior woman official.
Gayathri, in her mid 20’s and hailing from Katapadi village in Dindigul District, consumed poison last night at home before leaving for the station.
She swooned in front of the police station and some colleagues admitted her to a nearby hospital. However, she died after some time, without responding to treatment, police said today.
Gayathri was upset, as a senior woman official in the station used to abuse and torture her. Besides, she was asked to carry out the official’s household works, police sources said.
Further investigations are on, they said.
