Covai Post reported news of a school girl riding back home (without a helmet) in Udumalpet. She was declared brain dead by Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) and her family came ahead and pledged her vital organs.

Earlier this evening, a mason who was riding his two-wheeler on the Mettupalayam road was hit by a local bus. One of the home guards who witnessed this accident said that the mason was riding his two-wheeler without a helmet.

The mason came under the town bus and he was run over on his head by the rear wheel of the town bus at the gas company bus stop. The victim died on the spot.

Public who witnessed this accident informed the Thudiyalur and Periyanaickenpalayam police stations. The identity of the victim is yet to be established. The body will be sent to Government Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.

Despite the rule of riding a two-wheeler with helmet only in place, several of them do not follow this rule. Sadly, some of them meet with a road accident and die of injuries. Every day cases of men and women losing their life in road accidents because of not wearing a helmet are reported in Coimbatore.
