The best ways that a start-up can build and present a brand was brought out in a panel discussion held recently at PSG College of Technology.

Coimbatore chapter of Headstart Network Foundation organised the discussion and an interactive session on the theme ‘Branding for Start-ups’. Panellists included professionals like Archana Devadas, Udhay Krishna, Jey Anand, Sudhakar D, Madhumita Varadaraj and SDC Balaji. About 100 entrepreneurs and professionals participated.

Everything about branding like packaging, design and communication was discussed. “If content is the king, context is God,” Madhumita Varadaraj said. She has worked as a designer and communication consultant for seven years. She added that it was important to choose the right context for putting across the content.

Sudhakar D. brought out the difference between selling goods and selling experiences. He explained that while the former was physical, the latter had emotions attached to it. The power of illustrations was clearly brought out by SDC Balaji. “A start-up can tell a story through illustrations that can go a long way in helping creating a brand image.”

This event was sponsored by NRI Start-up India and was hosted by Headstart Network Foundation, in partnership with Left of Centre as a part of Start-upSaturday initiative. Headstart Network Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to change the world through entrepreneurship and is organising Start-upSaturday in 16 cities across India.
