A polling officer in a booth in Kangeyam constituency died after he suffered a massive heart attack in the booth.
54-year old Selvaraj, polling officer at one of the booths in Kangeyampalayam, Tirupur district, collapsed while on duty. Colleagues rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors attending to him referred him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, police said. Selvaraj however died on the way and the body was taken to Kangeyam Government Hospital.
Selvaraj was working in a government school in Udumalpet.
