With just a day for the election results to be announced, the very tense political parties of Tamil Nadu are shifting their attention to Aravakurichi and Thanjavur, in order to distract themselves. The two constituencies will vote on May 23.

Elections in these two constituencies were postponed following widespread complaints of bribing the voters. The outcome of these two constituencies could become crucial if there are no clear winners in the polls.

As many as 36 candidates will contest for the Aravakurichi seat, while 22 are in the fray in Thanjavur. While the AIADMK has announced that it will begin campaigning on Saturday, the DMK will launch a fast-track campaign on Wednesday, headed by MK Stalin. Former Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji (Aravakurichi) and M. Rengasamy (Thanjavur) are the AIADMK candidates in the two constituencies. The DMK has fielded K.C. Palanisami in Aravakurichi, and P. Kannan in Thanjavur.

Other leading parties will make formal announcements on their campaign plans after the results tomorrow.
