AIADMK Minister S.P. Velumani retained his Thonadamuthur seat in Coimbatore by defeating Syed Mohammed of Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi, an ally of the DMK, by an impressive 64,000-plus votes.

Velumani received 1,09,519, against 45,478 by Syed Mohammed.

Pollachi V Jayaraman, the Deputy Speaker in Tamil Nadu Assembly, won from Pollachi, defeating DMK’s Tamilmani by 13,453 votes. He polled 77,720 votes, against the DMK candidate’s 64,267.

In Mettuypalayam, AIADMK sitting MLA, O.K. Chinnaraj (93,595 votes) defeated DMK’s Surendran (77,481 votes).

In Valparai, Kasturi Vasu of the AIADMK defeated DMK’s Paul Pandi by 8200-plus votes. The seat was previously won by the CPI. Kasturi Vasu received 69,980 votes, while Paul Pandi, 61,736. Shanmugham of AIADMK won the Kinathukadavu seat by a margin of 1,332 votes. He polled 89,402 votes, defeating DMK’s Prabhakaran, who received 87,710 votes.
