Jaya to meet Modi on July 14

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on July 14.

This will be the first meeting between the two leaders after Jayalalithaa took charge as Chief Minister for the sixth time recently.

According to an official press release, the Chief Minister will leave for the national capital in the morning. “She will discuss important issues relating to Tamil Nadu with the Prime Minister.”

Jayalalithaa is expected to return the same day.

“She will submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister seeking financial assistance for various projects. She will also urge the Centre to constitute Cauvery Management Board to implement the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal,” a senior AIADMK leader said on condition of anonymity.

She is also expected to seek the Prime Minister’s intervention in bringing an end to the attacks on Indian fishermen by the Lankan Navy.

Meanwhile, BJP sources here said its senior leaders would seek the AIADMK’s support in the Rajya Sabha for passing various bills.
