The Tamil Nadu Government has granted permission for a rally to be taken out tomorrow marking the 25th year in prison for the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
The permission follows a request from Arpudhammal, mother of A.G. Perarivalan, to take out a mass non-political rally from the Vellore prison to the Secretariat.
Seven persons, including Perarivalan, were arrested on June 11 1991 in connection with the killing of the former prime minister.
Their release has largely been delayed due to the different stands taken by the State and Central governments. While the AIADMK government says it has no objection in releasing them, the Centre has a different opinion.
