In a shocking revelation, a 19-year-old college student has confessed to have hired mercenaries, along with her boyfriend, to kill her own father since he was objecting to her affair.

The girl, N. Mahalakshmi, surrendered before the Coimbatore Judicial Magistrate with her boyfriend, Satheesh (19), on Friday.

Mahalaksmi had allegedly paid Rs.1.5 lakhs by selling her jewels to kill her father, Nagaraj, a milk vendor. Satheesh, along with his friends Kamala Kannan (21), Santhosh Kumar (19), Krishna Kumar (19), and Sasikumar (22), murdered Nagaraj on May 24.

While the incident came to light after Nagaraj, from Chokkampudhur, was found murdered, the police were unable to find any concrete leads, except the fact that the victim had stab wounds. They later arrested the four in connection with the case.

Mahalakhmi, who was managing her father’s accounts, had fallen in love with Satheesh, who was residing nearby and allegedly gave money from the account to him.

Nagaraj, an illiterate, had come to know of the incident and had scolded her. He also threatened that he would not give her share of the property. Parmila, his wife, also knew of the affair and was helping her daughter, which made Nagaraj send the mother and daughter away from home.

Satheesh had helped the Pramila and Mahalakshmi rent a house. According to police sources, Parimala knew about her daughter’s devious plan, and had supported it, since Nagaraj himself was in an extramarital affair.

Mahalakshi and Satheesh have been remanded in custody, and Parimala is absconding.
