Ganja-loaded car seized near Puzhal

Chennai: A car, carrying eight bags of ganja, was seized by the Chennai city police yesterday at Puzhal.
According to sources, trouble began when the car, bearing Kerala registration number plate, did not stop for regular inspection at the Palavoyal junction police check-post, near Red Hills. The police immediately informed the Puzhal check post about the speeding Maruti Alto car, with registration number KL 21 J 4089.
At Puzhal, a team of police was ready, waiting to stop the car. But the car took a diversion and went into Mariammal Nagar and Kavangarai. The occupants of the car abandoned the vehicle and had fled by the time the cops caught up.
Inspection revealed eight bags of ganja, weighing about 200 kilos. Search is on for the persons in the car.
