Isha swaminis seek protection from parents, deny brainwash

Two young women, whose parents sought the district administration’s help on Monday in rescuing them from the Isha Yoga Centre, today requested the police to give them protection from their parents.
In a letter to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Perur sub-division, the duo explained that they have been staying at the centre on their own will and not due to any pressure from the Isha management.
The siblings – Maa Maathi (33) and Maa Maayu (31) (formerly called Geetha and Latha) – now Swaminis at the Isha Centre, went to the Perur DSP office to submit their petition. They said that they were living at peace in the Centre and their parents were only disturbing them.
“Our father shouted at us using abusive language and he will go to any extent to disrupt the peace in our lives. We are at peace here and living here on our own will,” the sisters mentioned in their letter to the DSP.
In a statement, Swami Eka, administrator of Isha Foundation stated that such allegations were made to malign the reputation of the institution.
The parents of Geetha and Latha petitioned the District Collector, T.N. Hariharan, that their daughters were being held against their wishes and requested that they be united with the family.
