Police are on the look out for a youth from Kerala for poisoning to death a middle-aged woman, after raping her near Pollachi. According to police, the woman Lohita, from Thrissur in Kerala, was found in middle of a bush a couple of days ago in a serious condition and admitted to the Pollachi Government Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lohita, wife of Raghavan, had been to Palani with Sajith ‘on a jolly trip’. On reaching Pollachi, he took her to a secluded spot at Pujaripatti, gave her a soft drink, laced with poison, before raping and dumping her.

Sajith left her there in a semi-conscious and escaped with her jewels, police said.,Lohita died this morning and the body was brought to Government hospital here, for postmortem. A manhunt is on for Sajith.
