The Madras High Court today dismissed the petition filed against the Isha Yoga Centre by a retired professor who alleged that his two daughters were being held captive against their will.

The High Court, on Wednesday, had directed the district judge of Coimbatore, to visit the yoga centre and hold inquiry with the two girls and submit a report the next day. A three-member team, led by Coimbatore Principal District Judge R. Pongiappan, visited the institution and recorded the statements of Geetha and Latha, now known as Maa Maayu and Maa Maati.

However, the siblings denied allegations against the centre and said they were staying there on their own will.

They also alleged that their parents were being instigated against the institution to defame its name.

The team, in which SP R.V. Ramya Bharati and another judicial officer were also members, submitted its report to the High Court on Thursday.

Following this, the High Court dismissed the plea stating there was no criminal intimidation involved. However, the court directed that the parents could meet the girls whenever they wanted, with a prior intimation to the centre.

Soon after the case was filed on July 1st, there has been a lot of support and opposition from various quarters to the Isha Centre. On Friday, members of an organisation tried to besiege the institution.
