The Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) yesterday saw three generations of former students, all highly accomplished doctors now, coming together to celebrate the 50th year of the formation of their alumni. The college recently celebrated its golden jubilee.
“Our doctors of the 1966 batch attended this meet. Students who passed out of this institution last academic year too participated in the alumni meet,” Dr. Edwin Joe, Dean of CMCH said.
Nearly 500 doctors, who are members of the alumni association of CMCH, participated in the 50th alumni meet. Doctors from as far as London visited their alma mater yesterday. Dr. Ragupathy Veluswamy, Chief Executive Officer of G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNM), was among the participants.
The dean also informed that the doctors have expressed their desire to visit the campus more often and give guest lectures to the students to bridge the academics-industry gap.
