Jaya’s gesture to medical students

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today presented books worth Rs. 1.50 lakhs for medical students through the Namadhu MGR Charitable Trust and Best Charitable Trust.

The books, to be kept in libraries of the Government medical hospitals and colleges across the State, were handed over to to the Principal Secretary of Health, J. Radhakrishnan, at the Secretariat by the Chief Minister. “The Chief Minister has been initiating various measures to ensure that poverty should not stop a student from learning.

And scholarships and financial assistance are being provided through MGR Trust to help them get proper education,” said an official press release.

In continuation of this, Jayalalithaa gave away two sets of medical books worth Rs. 75,000 each through Namadhu MGR Charitable Trust and Best Charitable Trust. The books which would be handy for the medical students.

The books would be handed over to the libraries at Tiruvarur Government College Hospital, Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College and Hospital, Sivaganga Government Medical College, Villupuram Medical College, Medical College and Hospital in Coimbatore and ESIS Hospital in Chennai.

State Health Minister C. Vijayabaskar, Chief Secretary Rama Mohana Rao and adviser to Tamil Nadu Government Sheela Balakrishnan were present on the occasion.
